Digital Literacy Program

Broadband Rhode Island (BBRI) developed a Basic Digital Literacy Initaitive to combat the ‘digital divide’ within Rhode Island, through funding from the American resource and Recovery Act.  As a part of this initiative, the Department of Education (RIDE) required at least one staff from every adult education program in the state to be trained as Digital Literacy Instructors through the BBRI training.

BBRI is sunsetting in 2015, but has guaranteed the sustainability of these efforts by partnering with the RI Adult Education Professional Development Center (RIAEPDC) to transer the website, curriculum and training.  The link to these resources are clickable on the Home Page of this site, or here.

RIFLI has developed a basic digital literacy curriculum leading to the Northstar Certification, and will be rolling it out across the state in 2015 through RIDE policy and resource support.

A study guide for the Northstar Certifications is also available on this page.
