EARN A MICRO-CREDENTIAL THROUGH THE PROFICIENCY-BASED TEACHING, LEARNING, AND ASSESSMENT (PBTLA) PROFESSIONAL LEARNING COMMUNITY (PLC)
RIDE Adult Education is encouraging a proficiency-based initiative shift in instructional strategies that has been in reading, math and language acquisition.
On October 13, 2017 the RI Professional Development Center launched a Professional Learning Community (PBLC) devoted to proficiency-based teaching, learning and assessment, providing a chance to earn a micro-credential through this work. The PBTLA PLC, facilitated by Donna Chambers, will provide opportunity to share expertise, participate in professional dialogue, work collaboratively to cultivate standards-based teaching skills leading to concrete evidence of student learning AND earn a micro-credential of your own learning.
The central focus of the group’s work will be on developing and validating performance tasks targeted at all content areas and levels of literacy, numeracy and English language acquisition. The PLC is intended to guide instructional strategies leading to high quality programming. Whether you are new to, or experienced in proficiency-based teaching, join us as we work together to exchange expertise and produce authentic tasks that advance instructional outcomes.
The PBTLA PLC will meet at the PDC and is open to all levels of ABE, ASE, ESL, practitioners and administrators. Please bring a device and plan on having fun working together as we delve deeper into strengthening the Rhode Island proficiency-based approach momentum.
If you are interested, but cannot attend this meeting, please contact Donna Chambers, email@example.com
