Transitions to College & Careers Initiative

Local/ Statewide

Rhode Island’s Adult Education system has a 10+ year involvement with developing effective Transitions to College and Careers Initiative, beginning with Nellie May Foundation funding of a TCC Program at project RIRAL in Woonsocket, and expanding to seven more agencies to date.
A Coordinator of the TCC Initiative has been established at the Community College of RI (CCRI), and more information can be found on their TCC page, including links to the TCC class at CCRI.  TTC Classes/ programming are also available at the following agencies: Ed Exchange in Wakefield, RIFLI in Providence and Pawtucket, West Bay CAP in Warwick, Aquidneck Island Adult Learning Center, and Rhode Island College Outreach Programs.
A series of videos of TCC student stories are available on YouTube.

Regional/ National

The National Transitions to College Network, in Boston, is the center for resources, toolkits, research and best practices for transitioning adults into college.
It also holds an annual conference in Rhode Island each November.  Archived materials from past conference, with attendees from across the country, are housed on their website, also.
